Life Sciences: 2020 Revenue Growth Predictions

Steven Van Belleghem

A dynamic speaker, who spoke at our Marketing & Sales Executives Meeting a couple of years ago, has been asking himself how this COVID-19 crisis is impacting customer experience. What do customers expect during a crisis like this? And perhaps even more importantly, what are their expectations for when this crisis is over?

A Letter to Our Members

Dear ALDA Members,

The past few months have been challenging times for all of us. That said, this unprecedented crisis has also provided a unique opportunity for us as ALDA members to pivot together. From individual relationships forged through membership in this association, to active participation in learning and collaborative opportunities provided by ALDA, there has never been a more critical time to be a part of this association.

Over the course of the past few months, ALDA has

  • Hosted weekly collaborative meetings for our members’ Operations and Human Resources leaders, sharing best practices and ideas on navigating stay-at-home orders and on return-to-work protocols.
  • Heard directly from former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb in a members-only Q&A webinar focused on his roadmap to recovery
  • Received updates and guidance from McKinsey & Company experts focused on navigating the crisis
  • Moved our sales & marketing conference online as we all learned to pivot our strategies in a virtual and digital world
  • Taken deep dives into funding provisions in the Cares Act from legal experts

Our resolve as individual organizations and collectively as an industry has never been stronger. It has been empowering and inspiring to engage with our fellow members and learn from one another as we continue to adapt and evolve during these uncertain times.

Over the next year, we plan to continue to deliver timely, insightful content and unique networking opportunities adapted to the unique times.  We’re forced to pivot this year, and we’re embracing the opportunity and providing more value than ever. Events and programming will include:

  • Senior Executive Webinar Series: Two hour high-value, topical content aimed at executive leadership held every 6 to 8 weeks, similar to the recent Gottlieb/McKinsey session. On June 17, Bank of America Merrill Lynch will share insights on the global economy, and the Linus Group will discuss how research lab customers are returning to work.
  • Virtual Fall Senior Management Conference: In light of the current pandemic, we are shifting to a virtual event.  Our entire program focused on Artificial Intelligence will be delivered online starting on Thursday, September 17 and continuing for three consecutive Thursdays. The full schedule is available here.
  • Board-hosted Networking Events: ALDA prides itself on its best-in-class networking opportunities, and this year will be no different. We are rolling out unique, intimate networking opportunities for our members that will take place for the rest of 2020. ALDA board members will be hosting customized small-group events, in-person and virtually, starting in September. For example, Brad Gray with plans to host a virtual roundtable on the experience of taking a company through IPO, and Patrick Kaltenbach plans to lead a Bay Area hike. There will be lots of variety and options to choose from, and more information to come in July. We’re really looking forward to this!

Everything mentioned above comes at no additional cost to your membership. All ALDA members are invited to participate in every activity mentioned; there will be no registration fees. Your membership must be active in order to register and participate.

We are planning to return to larger in-person engagements & meetings in early 2021, including our Spring Senior Executive Conference in Boston, May 2-4.

We appreciate and value your continued membership in ALDA; as we have proven, we are stronger together. Membership in this association has never been more critical or vital. We look forward to continuing to grow and evolve with you.

Sincerely,

Brad Gray
